Both options offer a scenic ride through natural beauty and wilderness. Popular amongst the mountain biking scene, they describe this track as ‘rad’—which means cool in mountain biking lingo!

A bushwalk with a view, close to the city centre… you guessed it, Latimer Lookout!

Not only is Maidstone Park home to Maidstone Max, the best playground in the country, but you’ll also find a lovely trail at the back of the park that winds up to Latimer Lookout. This short, yet moderately steep, track takes 20 minutes to get to the top for the best views of the city centre and down the valley. Make your way back down the way you came, or carry-on down Kingsley Heights. It’s a great little workout.

Don’t go chaasssing waaaaaterfalls ….wait! That’s actually exactly what you should do!

We have just the trail for you if a little waterfall chasing is what you’re after. Tane’s Track starts from the lower carpark at Tunnel Gully and takes you through tall rimu, mātai, kahikatea, black beech and tawa forest. Halfway into the track is where you’ll find the waterfall, it is most impressive after a rainfall. This is a stunning, leisurely walk and one of our favourites if we’re honest.
